Luna had a lovely career in the show ring by winning numerous classes at Championship & Open Shows and was awarded 2 RCC's by Mr M Caple & Mrs M Pascoe. She was mostly shown alongside her sibling, Alfie, as was her dam, Chelsea, & her brother, Joe, before her.
She then entered the veteran classes at Championship Shows taking numerous BVIB's and BVIS's. The photograph, left, was taken at SWWC Championship Show 2018 where she was awarded BVIS. Joe had been awarded some BVIB's previously too. Luna continues to be awarded well in the Veteran classes & has recently taken BVIB at SWKA Championship Show in October 2022, photograph below. And at the SWKA Open Show in February 2023 Luna was awarded BV in the Hound Group and then RBVIS.
After so many lovely wins in veteran at Championship Shows we decided, quite late, to try for Lunas Veteran Warrant but points can only be won from Open Shows. On 29/08/2023 at the grand age of 12.5 years old Luna was awarded the title of VW by the Kennel Club.
She has now only been shown lightly in Veteran classes alongside the current team of Pippa and Gracie but on winning her VW title she might happily retire to the sofa :)
Alfie enjoyed a super showing career but later on was happier to stay at home on the sofa. Very sadly we lost Alfie during 2023 and he has left a very large hole in our hearts.
He won the CC, BOB and BIS at the prestigious Houndshow in 2013, a fabulous achievement at this premier show for hounds. The Breed Judge was Mrs Linda Jones (Welstar) and BIS Judge Jenny Startup. His dam, Chelsea, had previously been awarded RBIS at this same show in 2010.
Alfie then went on to be awarded another 3 RCC's by Mrs W Spencer, Mr P Jones and Mr G Robertson.
Unlike his show off litter sister Alfie was not the most enthusiastic show dog so was much happier retired at home.
Alfie will always be missed by all at Huntinghill.
